"Break My Own Heart"- Eraste - The Art of Being Queer

Tonight's queer artist feature is Eraste with the amazing "Break My Own Heart"

“Her debut single, "Break My Own Heart", captures the upbeat vibes of the indie-pop we know and love, while delving into the intense depths and emotional dimensions of artists like Lorde and Bleachers to bring a refreshing breath to moody pop.”

Hailing from the Texas Panhandle, Eraste (‘air-ess) pulled from years of feeling outcast to find herself as a prime example of the modern generation’s deep desire to feel known.

Born Ariha Vaquera, on June 13th, 2000 in Spearman, Texas, Eraste was brought up in music all her life. Raised in the church, she quickly discovered a talent for leading worship and often led many in praise and worship weekly. After graduation, she attended Texas Christian University where her musical pursuits quickly turned from a weekend worship service to a fire to pursue a professional career.

With a desire to create, Eraste spent the first half of 2020 honing in on her sound. During this time, she met Landon Jett and Brianna Conrado (Clover The Girl) who collaborated with her to help produce her debut single, Break My Own Heart and her debut EP, Crashing Every Party. “This is the perfect chance to take the next step,” she says. “Writing Crashing Every Party has been an emotional evolution as it’s forced me to process so much trauma and past hurt, which is something I know so many people in my generation can connect with." Break My Own Heart was released on October 2, 2020 and you can expect to hear more from Eraste early 2021.
