@efsoleil - The Art of Being Queer - Artist Feature

Tonight’s fabulous queer artist feature is @efsoleil

Artist Statement:

I am a 19 year old, transgender artist from the Eugene, Oregon area. My work is at its core a tool for me to navigate, understand, and process the world, body, and mind that I live in. The way I create changes every time I approach a new project. It is imperative for me to always shift and change the way I do things, and to try new things. I often will pick up a completely new medium to see how fast I can articulate myself with it, and after I’ve said what I need to say I move on. Many of my works are connected to my experience as a transgender woman. Others focus on my experiences of mental health issues, some of which, including “Seven Swans” are breakthroughs. They can be very literal and use the world’s lens of being trans to change the impression of an object while others are simply the impressions of myself and my world from a symbolic approach. I have been working as an artist for as long as I can remember. When people look at my art it is like they are looking down a well and seeing themselves in the water. I do not know anything other than art, and I put everything into my art because my art is all I have.
