@private_in_public - The Art of Being Queer - Artist Feature

Tonight's queer artist feature is @private_in_public

Artist Statement:

"I've been struggling to finally understand I'm as intrigued by the past than the future and this is pretty much the starting point to my obsession for retrofuturism and how it displays through my recent work. I like rusty, I like greasy and I like overdramatic future predictions. Something about yesterday's naïvety and tomorrow's apparent hopelessness makes me want to connect them and fuck each other.

I got into and practiced self-portrait ever since I was 14, it never left me and I don't know if it ever will. Drag is way more recent and I find myself having so much pleasure incorporating it to my work. I would be lying if I told you my main goal isn't to create visually pleasing artworks and drag definitely allows more of that in my opinion. I wouldn't say what I do is about identity, but indirectly it is to whoever cares about gender. I would say it has more to do with what we are today, what we were yesterday and what we're about to be : the same flawed human beings."
