@riverwestin - The Art of Being Queer - Artist Feature

Tonight 's fabulous queer artist feature is @riverwestin

Artist Statement:

My name is River Westin, I am a gay indie-pop musician from upstate New York. My music is inspired by vintage stylings of the fifties and sixties. I’m obsessed with classic crooners like Ricky Nelson, Del Shannon, and Bobby Vinton. I try bringing those sounds to life by creating visuals that evoke a sense of nostalgia. My latest single “Gardens in the Summer” is like a recollection of memories about finding safety in the love of your partner. And like most of my favorite songs I’ve written, trades the often dominant swagger of male pop singers for a more vulnerable, melancholy stance. I’m currently working on finishing my next full-length release and recently placed Top 10 in the 2018 International Songwriting Competition’s Adult Contemporary category for my track “Golden Age”. I love connecting with other LGBT musicians and artists so we can become a support system for one another. Feel free to reach out and say hi!
