Tonight's queer artist feature is @thecarmenmonoxide
My name is Carmen Monoxide, I am 27 years old and drag is where my queer imagination plays with art and fashion. Carmen Monoxide was born with these things in mind: the fantasy of the glamour, fashion and beauty with a twist of camp and entertainment. I’ve been doing drag for 9 years, 3 of which I spent in Guatemala starting a brand new drag scene outside of the gay clubs and into fashion, photography and the media. I am proud to say that I am a big part of a drag revolution down here in Guatemala City.
Before quarantine started, I was hosting my own weekly show "Morbo" at a queer club called Victoria Club Solemne. When you come to one of my nights you should expect a lot of queer skin of all colors and sizes and very sexy performances with amazing storylines.
I consider myself a show queen because I've been on a stage since I was a little child. I did gymnastics, cheerleading and dance so I am very aware of my body. I also really love makeup and fashion and I am currently working for a company designing cheerleading costumes.
I believe in the power of connectivity and collaboration and I am positive that this new wave of digital art is a powerful tool for queer voices to keep being loud.
