My photography is fueled by the clashing chaos of contradictions: play & provocation, masculine & feminine, titillation & torment, fear & freedom. When these opposite sides of a spectrum meet, there is a charged, often taboo-area that becomes electric. That is when I snap my shutter. My goal is to challenge the viewers of my work; show them another point of view that is not readily accepted by society at large. I want them to stop in their tracks and think, “Huh, I’m uncomfortable and yet, how beautiful!” I want each of my photographs to challenge not only a viewer’s accepted truths about gender, class, and glamour, but also each portrait's subject. My work strives to push each photo's subject out of their comfort zone. I believe it is within that novel inner struggle that true empowerment and transformation becomes possible.
To challenge what is expected I capturer subjects in an intentionally controlled and manipulated studio environment. Studio lighting is contorted to highlight the unexpected and models are posed in provocative postures. My overall hope is that my work will lead people further along towards the goal of acceptance, tolerance, and equality.
Thomas Clark Originally from Denver, CO been in NY for 15 years . Trained in musical theatre. Using my masculine side has def helped to book work on tv shows and The Deuce The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
Transitioning to more tv/commercial an print work. As I’m getting older I’m the husband and dad roles . My chorus boy days are over . My dream is land a role of a sitcom someday be a happy working successful actor.
Getting to work with Thomas Evans, was a dream! When I approached him to shoot I was excited to get the chance.
I wanted to build my portfolio of photos. But In a different way. Having, Evans push my out of my comfort zone was what I had been wanting in a photos. Yes , you can smile and pose for picture but to transform is another.
Starting, out with going from Mas to a femme side was amazing. Staring with simple looks to beauty/glam was definitely what I wanted to express. Putting on heels(trying not to fall) and makeup isn’t in my everyday but once full glam I saw a different stronger person in the mirror! Than the man wearing a suite and tie in previous looks we did . It’s an art putting on full beat and nails. Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY! Who doesn’t like looking pretty?? 🥰
