Warzone - Scratch Massive Remixes

Benedict is back with some amazing remixes of "Warzone" Scratch Massive

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Pop-alt artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Benedict translates experiences of heartbreak, love, social observation and justice into her melodic artistry. Echoing a sound that falls in-between the lines of Kate Bush and Prince, the singer is soon to send waves through the battlefield with latest offering ‘Warzone’, released 30th July 2020.

Growing up in a musical atmosphere, this Australian born artist eschewed a regular childhood in pursuit of mastering multiple instruments. Nurtured by her mother, a gifted musician and singer herself, Benedicts’ journey as a prolific songwriter started at the ripe age of five years old. Cutting her teeth on many influences which include; David Bowie, Janis Joplin, Madonna and Queen, Prince, MJ; the singer began to mould her own vocal stylings and writing.

In between music, Benedict has spent time working with youth and communities. One of her most challenging times was spent on the frontline working as a prison guard. It broke her heart watching, as she named them, “the forgotten people” from an everyday community be let down by the system. The pain. Their stories. As a humanitarian and a person who is passionate about equality and social justice, her desire runs even deeper to be a voice for all who aren’t heard! All communities. All people.

After a long time of working behind the scenes on other projects and writing and touring Benedict took time out to develop and write her current project.

Layered with haunting sirenic vocals and a crisp pulsating melody, upcoming track ‘Warzone’ sees Benedict project a nostalgic 80s/90s pop influence through her sound. Her gracious vocals robustly explode with such ease. Produced by Australian producer Dean Tuza, the new number explores the many different relationships that an individual will experience, and the life lessons that each one brings. Focusing on the fact that some relationships are like a warzone, the new number emboldens the strength to find self-worth through dark times, resulting in the ultimate victory.

“My single 'Warzone' is about many different relationships we have over time. Relationships with partners, friendships, family, government, religion. Learning the paradigms of these things and how they can change very quickly from positive to negative. Trusting and loving when you only receive narcissism and gaslighting in return. Some relationships are warzones that can break us down mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is about the loneliness and pain that you take on then healing from past hurts and breathing your truth.
Aseachhumanisuniqueandspecialitisaboutsteppingoutandtrustingyourheartandyour goodness and fighting for your life. To me the most important thing is to become stronger and be your true self no matter what the consequences and live in your full truth as well as love others for their differences and unique selves.”
“ I am so humbled that Scratch Massive took on my track. I love their work and they did an amazing job on the remixes. It is an honour to work with such brilliant minds and get their spin on my art!”

Now, teaming up with the electric duo SCRATCH MASSIVE, you will be taken into Warzone on a whole other eclectic level through their haunting and powerful remixes. SM is a force to be reckoned with.

Evolving from an electro-rock duo to purveyors of evocative synth pop and film

scores, Sébastien Chenut and Maud Geffray's collaboration as Scratch Massive grew richer

as the years passed. Though early releases like 2003's debut album Enemy & Lovers flirted

with trends such as electroclash, the darker, more atmospheric vibe of a2011's Nuit de

Rêve foreshadowed the direction of the duo's work in the 2010s. By the time Scratch

Massive released 2018's Garden of Love, Geffray and Chenut's music blended four

decades' worth of electronic music into a style distinctly their own.

Producer/DJ Sébastien Chenut and producer/DJ/vocalist Maud Geffray began working

together as Scratch Massive in 1999, joining a Parisian dance scene that featured likeminded acts such as Arnaud Rebotini, Ivan Smagghe and Chloé. The duo issued its debut EP KABA Freestyle that year, and followed it with several releases for the Chateaurouge label that mixed house, electro, and rock, including 2001's "Ice Breaker" and the following year's "Keep on Working."

The latter track appeared on Scratch Massive's eclectic 2003 debut album Enemy & Lovers, which was mixed by Super_Collider's Cristian Vogel. Several more singles followed, including 2005's hard-hitting "Girls on Top." That year, the duo also issued the mix album Naked. Geffray and Chenut returned in 2007 with Time, an album of dark electro that included a cover of the Cure's "Three Imaginary Boys" and mastering by Moritz von Oswald. Also in 2007, Scratch Massive began an enduring collaboration with director/screenwriter/actor Zoe Cassavetes by composing the score for her film Broken English.

Following 2009's mix album Joy, Chenut and Geffray issued their third, new wave-

influenced album Nuit de Rêve. Featuring collaborations with Chloé, GusGus' Daniel

Agustand former Bronski Beat singer Jimmy Somerville, the album arrived in 2011. On

2013's live album Communion, Scratch Massive infused Nuit de Rêve's tracks with

dancefloor-friendly energy. Two years later, Geffray made her debut as a solo artist with

the score to the rave-inspired film 1994. Scratch Massive reunited with Cassavetes for the

score to 2016's film Day Out of Days and the following year's series of digital shorts

Junior, both of which showcased the duo's cinematic synth pop. Scratch Massive's members then took some time to focus on solo work: In 2017, Chenut issued the mini-album Motor of Love on the duo's own Bordel imprint, while Geffray released Polaar, which she recorded during a residency in Finland. The duo returned in 2018 with its fourth album, Garden of Love, a set of tracks with influences ranging from minimal wave to trap.
